What type of competitions will you have? (One entry per person, per event)

  1. Build at Home (and bring in to the Library)

  2. 100 Brick Speed Build Challenge (Day of competition event)

How do I enter the competition?

First, you must register for the competition, starting on Monday, January, 17th.  (Space is limited, so prior registration is required to compete)

BUILD AT HOME COMPETITION

Who may participate?

     Age Categories:

  • Young Builders - 9 years old and younger

  • Intermediate Builders -10 to 17 years old

  • Adults -18+

What is the theme for my Build at Home Creation?

The theme for 2022 is “A Scene from my Favorite Book.”  Builders should create a scene from one of their favorite books and include a note card listing the title of the book and a description of the scene with their build. 

What are the build requirements?

Builds should be ORIGINAL WORK, not a Lego® designed set or project found online. 

Build Size: Builds should be no larger than 12 inches wide x 12 inches long and not taller than 24 inches.   

Build Materials: Any LEGO® Brand bricks and pieces may be used. (Please no other brand of building toys, ex: K’nex.)  Please do not paint Lego® bricks or include other materials (paper, glue, etc.) in your build.

Who are the judges?

The judging panel is made up of local Lego build collectors and enthusiasts.

 

What are the Prizes?

Each of the age categories will have a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winner.  Judges may also award honorable mention winners.  1st place winners in each category will have their builds on display at the Hermiston Public Library for the month of March.

   Prizes for Build at Home Competition:

  • 1st Place: $50 JB Brick Co. Gift Card

  • 2nd Place: $25 JB Brick Co. Gift Card

  • 3rd Place: $15 JB Brick Co. Gift Card

When will winners be announced?

Winners will be announced at the end of the competition between 2:30p -3:00pm on February 26th.

When do we pick up our builds?

All builds must be picked up from the Library on February 26th by 4:00pm.  

 

100 BRICK SPEED BUILD COMPETITION

Who may participate?

    Age Categories:

  • Young Builders - 9 years old and younger

  • Intermediate Builders -10 to 17 years old

Space is limited so only the first 50 applicants to register will be accepted.

How to register:

What will the 100 Brick Speed Build competition include?

  • Both Age groups will have a 45-minute period to build their creation.

  • Each contestant will be given a container of 100 random Lego® Bricks

  • Using their imagination, contestants are to build a creation with the 100 Lego® bricks given to them.

  • Contestants can only use the 100 Lego® Bricks given to them. No trading, swapping or borrowing pieces from other contestants. 

  • This competition is for Young Builders (9 and under) and Intermediate Builders only.Only the contestants entered will be allowed at the build table during the competition.

  • At the end of the time builders will stop building and stand in front of their builds for judging.

  • After judging has been completed, all contestants are to disassemble their builds and place pieces back in the containers provided.

  • All Lego® bricks provided during the 100 Brick Speed Build competition are property of JB Brick Company and need to remain at the build tables.

 

What are the Prizes for the 100 Brick Speed Build?

Schedule of Events

February 26, 2022

  • 10:00am – 11:00am – Contestants drop off their BUILD AT HOME entries for judging

  • 11:00am –Judging Begins of Build at Home entries

  • 12:00pm- 3:00pm–Doors open to the public

  • 1:00pm – 2:00pm – 100 Brick Speed Build Challenge

  • 2:30pm – 3:00pm – Awards Ceremony
